About the event
Passionate  artist and archivist Peter Davis (recently nominated for the National Portrait Award) returns to Greenhouse to give his Painting the Zeitgeist talk, looking at the work of Edward Hopper and what he can teach us about the changing nature of cities nowadays, considering art as a potential time capsule of days gone by. With a poetic introduction from our resident poet Jonny B Smooth.
Refreshments included.
"Artists have painted the here and now for centuries. Prize-winning painter, and MAFA Archivist, Peter Davis will look back into art history to the work of Edward Hopper and talk to us about the themes in his own work, to discover why documenting the zeitgeist is so important for many artists."
Time weighs us down. Art can make us weightless again, allow us to escape time, penetrate it. Join us to find out how!
